It generally takes 2-3 years to earn a doctorate.
While going along the educational path, many take jobs as counselors, research assistants, and even interviewers. This provides essential skills and experience that most sociologists will need. The median sociologist salary is around $58,000. The normal salary range for a sociologist is between $35,000 and $75,000, making the average sociologist salary $55,000. Those who work in the education field tend to make more. Many sociologists makes additional money writing for publications, consulting, or performing additional research projects.
Sociologists need to have a natural curiosity about human nature and be intrigued by the way people react and interact. The main job of a sociologist is, after all, to find a greater understanding about human nature.
