An account executive holds a very important position in any company whose revenue is directly dependent on large volume customers. These are the customers who spend a large amount of money regularly with this company. An account executive is normally assigned to the accounts in order to ensure that they keep their business with your company. The account executive's salary will depend highly on the size of the clients they can handle .
They are responsible for making sure the customer is happy and that any issues they may have are handled in an efficient and effective manner. Their clout with the company that employs them normally relies directly on how happy the customer remains, if the customer stays with or spend more with the company, or if they can work to bring in additional business.
Most account executives have at least a Bachelor's Degree in either Sales, Marketing, Advertising, or a specialized degree in the field their business is in. Many who stay in this line of work will go into get a Master's Degree, which can greatly increase the rate of pay.
Companies typically don't hire account executives without higher education degrees.
The average salary tends to hover around the $50,000 mark, but this is entirely dependent on experience, education, and the business you are in (i.e., paper sales may pay less than technology sales).
First Year Salary- $30,000 to $40,000
1-10 Years Experience- $35,000 to $60,000
10-20 Years Experience- $45,000 to $90,000

An account executive can be an exciting position, especially in a fast-paced industry.
